Colonsay Visitor Guidelines

Ongoing precations against COVID-19 (last updated 6th January 2022)

Throughout the pandemic, we have faithfully followed all government guidelines and we have maintained protocols that exceed the bare minimum. We intend to maintain practices that we believe help to minimise all risk, and we specifically offer discounts so that virtually all of our reservatiions are for one full week or more. We have duplicated all pillows, duvets, throws, soft cushions etc., so that everything has been rested for a minimum of seven nights between changeovers.

We have also created a weekly newsletter, fast approaching the 100th edition, in which we keep all guests informed as to the situation in Colonsay; we always mention any known or suspected cases of Covid and any updated advice from the local medical practice or other authorities.

Although we ask for a 25% deposit, we do not ask for the balance until you are here or (if more convenient) when you get home again, so that there is no pressure if you are having to make a difficult decision. If you feel obliged to cancel due to considerations of Covid, any monies that you have paid will be refunded in full, without quibble.

Please assist by following these crucial guidelines:

KEEP YOUR DISTANCE: please maintain physical distancing according to the prevailing official guidelines.

USE YOUR PHONE: The shop (01951 200265), The Pantry (200325) and the Hotel (200316) are open normally and comply in detail with any prevailing regulations; however bookings are advisable for the Pantry and Hotel restuarants. The Doctor (200328) can only be seen by appointment. These, and all other relevant numbers, are included in the Welcome Compendium provided in your accommodation. Each service and public-facing business is open and any current restrictions or guidelines will be posted at their door.

THE PROTECT SCOTLAND APP: Please ensure that you download and engage this free App at least 10 days before you visit Colonsay, and ensure that Bluetooth is turned ON at all times.

FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES: special rules may still apply or have to be re-introduced at public or private properties, but these would be clearly displayed at the entrance. They may be regulatory (shop, restaurant, church etc.) or otherwise. Read the signs carefully and follow the guidelines exactly as given.

BE THOUGHTFUL: Remember to wash your hands thoroughly every time you re-enter your accommodation. Please follow local instructions as directed on signs.

To avoid doubt, all holiday homes are cleaned and sanitized to comply with government-approved protocols. These approved protocols have been made available to all householders. resident and second homes, so that nobody has any doubt as to the standards that are required to welcome occupants arriving from the mainland.

Our own protocols currently meet and exceed the standards recommended by the Public Health authorities and will be modified to comply with any change.

VITAL INFORMATION: If any member of your party develops symptoms of Covid-19 whilst here or within a fortnight of departure, contact the test and trace number 08000 282816 and please URGENTLY telephone 01951 200328, email your host and/or telephone 111 (follow Scottish Government guidelines).
